So I would say get your Margarita, nurse that, maybe get another Margarita after that, and then if you're saying, "I've been dancing for four or five songs, sweating, my buzz is gone," go back and start over with the shot again. I like 'em straight up in small glasses so that you can drink it before it gets warm and the ice doesn't melt and make it funky. You don't want it to get too diluted and have all the ice melt. And then you nurse it, you cruise around, you walk around, talk to people, you got your Margarita in your hand, you sip it slow. Then you may do another one, but no more than two shots. After that, you don't have to do salt all night, but before your first one, in case you've been chewing Spearmint Gum or something, you don't want to drink tequila behind that. I like do it in two pieces personally and a little bit of salt first because it clears your pallet. I'm pretty much a two sipper for one shot. When I get to the Cantina, I do a straight shot with whoever is in the dressing room or whoever's at the bar, or whoever's at the table with me. What's the number one Tequila mixed drink? And then the number one Rum mixed drink when you're in Hawaii? So obviously, so you're starting with Tequila for the Mexican party. But you get down to Mexico and late at night, The Cabo Wabo, I don't know why you would ever switch from tequila unless you just wanted to have a beer just to cruise for a while.īaltin: Let's expand it to the cocktail hits be you have all these great recipes. That's to me, that's the ultimate party beverage in that environment. That's Hawaii, in the daytime, you're on the beach, you're poolside, or you're on somebody's backyard. You can have fresh fruit juice and you just put rum in it and you got a great cocktail, a little squeeze of lime, boom. You can have rum and Coke and rum and juice. And most of the Hawaiian stuff is done with rum. Honestly, It's because all them recipes in here from Hawaii and Mexico most of the Mexican stuff is done with tequila. But truthfully, I think tequila is the most festive drink there is, and rum is second. Okay, that would get the party started and it would end the party too, probably earlier than you expected. I would say, just if you just had one thing, for a party, it would have to be tequila straight shots. See the party cocktail, it depends on where that party is and what kind of people are there now. Sammy Hagar: First of all, it depends on what kind of party you're talking. Steve Baltin: What is the perfect party cocktail in this book?
